York University Station, Disassembly and Removal of West Tower Crane, March 11 to 29, 2016

Work begins Friday, March 11, 2016 on the disassembly of the west tower crane within the subway construction site at the location identified by the red dot on the map below. Disassembly of the tower crane will take place over four days using a large mobile crane from March 11 to 14, 2016. After the tower crane has been removed work will begin on Tuesday, March 15, to remove the concrete foundation from the tower crane. Removal work will include the use of a hoe-ram or rock breaker. Foundation removal work will take place from March 15 to 29, 2016. Work will take place in the Contractor Work Zones and Station Construction Areas on the map below.
Short traffic delays may be experienced on Ian Macdonald Boulevard and the Pond Road during the removal of the tower crane. Flag personnel will be on Ian Macdonald Boulevard to facilitate the safe movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic during these removals. This work is weather permitting.
Tower Crane dismantling and removal work includes:
- Disassembly and removal of the west tower crane over four days from March 11 to 14, 2016 using a large mobile crane.
- Removal of the concrete tower crane foundation which includes use of a hoe-ram from March 15 to 29, 2016.
Noise and Vibration
Noise and vibration is expected during the removal of the tower crane foundation. Construction equipment includes use of a hoe ram or rock breaker. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
Construction Vehicles and Deliveries
Construction vehicles removing the west crane will use the Bus Exit Lane and York Boulevard to exit the construction site (orange line on map). As construction continues at the York University Site, construction related notices will be issued.
