Early Morning Work at York University, May 26 – August 29, 2014

Construction continues at York University on the station box and excavation of the area known as the “Light Scoop”. Extended working hours will take place beginning on Monday, May 26 to Friday, August 29, 2014. During the week of May 26 to May 30 there will be early work in the station box removing materials by tower crane. After next week, work includes; mobilization of the construction work force, deliveries to the construction site, soil removal and pre-work inspections. During the extended working hours there will be construction related noise from construction equipment and vehicles. Work will take place in the Contractor Work Zone on the map below.
Work Hours
- Construction activities will run from approximately 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., 7 days per week, from Monday, May 26 to Friday, August 29, 2014. Construction notices will be issued for any extended or overnight work that begins prior to 5:00 a.m.
The City of Toronto normal working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. However, the City of Toronto has approved a noise by-law amendment for major transit projects which allows contractors to perform overnight and weekend work for the duration of the project, when required. Extended work hours are expected to occur within the hoarded construction site at York University until September 2014.
As construction continues at the York University Site, construction related notices will be issued.
