Extended Work Hours April 4, 2013 In Vanier/Founders Green

Extended work will occur on April 4 until 11:00 p.m. for the excavation of a cross passage for the northern subway tunnels. The construction site area is situated south-east of Ottawa Road in the Vanier/Founders Green near the Founders Residence and east of the Lumbers parking lot. This tunnel construction is anticipated to last until approximately June 2013.

Construction work will include:

• Large construction vehicles entering and exiting the site including a drill rig
• Drilling and excavation activities.
• During the work there will be construction related noise and vibration.

Work Hours

The City of Toronto normal construction work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. However, the City of Toronto has approved a noise by-law amendment for major transit projects which allows contractors to perform overnight and weekend work for the duration of the project, when required. Extended work hours are expected to occur in the Vanier/Founders Green area for the next two days. Please visit our website spadina.ttc.ca for exact dates.

• York University Station construction work is permitted from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., 7 days per week.
• Tunnel construction using Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), and related activities including excavation is permitted 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, for safety and efficiency purposes.

Pedestrian Access

A new walkway has been built south of the construction site. Please use this new walkway and existing walkways around Vanier Residence and the construction site and follow posted signs.

Project Information Centre in York Lanes

A project information centre is open in York Lanes across from the York University bookstore. Our Construction Liaison Officers are on-hand three days a week to greet visitors and share information about the project. The York Lanes office has project information and the station models for York University and Steeles West stations.
