Northbound Curb Lane Restrictions on Allen Road for Subway Tunnel Construction

There will be intermittent lane restrictions on northbound Allen Road north of Sheppard Avenue West for the construction of an extraction shaft. This tunnelling construction site extends approximately 264 metres adjacent to the Allen Road, north of Sheppard Ave West at the south end of the earth berm. Construction crews will be building a large shaft for the arrival of the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) “Holey and Moley”. This work is anticipated to be complete in early 2013.
Early construction work includes:
- Utility relocations;
- Installation of a 3.6 metre high perimeter construction fence;
- Removal of the earth berm at the south end, between Allen Road and Dufferin Street and;
- Excavation and drilling activities (beginning in October).
Work Hours
- Work will normally run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
- No work will be done on Statutory Holidays.
Lane Restrictions on Allen Road
There will be an intermittent northbound curb lane restriction on Allen Road to accommodate construction. Due to the nature of the work, motorists may face temporary traffic delays northbound on Allen Road.
Construction Vehicle Access
Construction vehicles will access and exit the construction site only from Allen Road. We regret any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this work.
