Sheppard Avenue West and Bakersfield Street Utility Works

Starting Friday, November 4th, 2011, utility work begins on Bakersfield Street from Sheppard Avenue West to north of the St. Regis Crescent intersection. Bakersfield Street will remain open but will be narrowed from Sheppard Avenue West to St. Regis Crescent. TTC Bus Route 107 Keele will not be travelling on Bakersfield during this construction and will not be servicing the stops at Bakersfield and St. Regis Crescent. Alternate stops will be posted along the detour. The detour is Tuscan Gate, westerly section of St. Regis Crescent, Ceramic Road to route (blue line on map).

Construction work includes the construction of a sanitary sewer. The lane restrictions on Bakersfield Street will be in place for approximately 3 weeks.

Lane Restrictions

Bakersfield Street will be narrowed in both directions from Sheppard Avenue West to St. Regis Crescent for 3 weeks to facilitate this work. Driveways will not be blocked on Bakersfield St. during this work.

Bus Stop

TTC Bus Route 107 Keele will not be travelling on Bakersfield during this construction. Stops at Bakersfield St. and St. Regis Crescent will be missed. Buses will be detouring using Tuscan Gate, westerly section of St. Regis Crescent, Ceramic Road to route (blue line on graphic).

Work Hours

The City of Toronto has approved a noise by-law exemption which allows the contractor to perform overnight and weekend work when required to minimize traffic and neighbourhood disruptions.

Work will normally run from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., 7 days per week.
Tunnelling using Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), and related activities, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, for safety and efficiency purposes.
