Finch West Station Advanced Works Begin

Advanced Watermain, Utility and Road Works for Finch West Subway Station

Construction begins this month for an extension of Tangiers Road and Murray Ross Parkway in preparation of the Finch West Subway Station construction. Once complete, the extension will provide a detour route for the intersection of Keele Street and Finch Ave West to help ease traffic during station construction.

Murray Ross Parkway will be extended east to meet a northern extension of Tangiers Road. The new road work also includes replacement and installation of watermains, utilities, drainage, traffic signals as well as new landscaping and pedestrian sidewalks. The extension road, utility re-location and enabling works are part of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) project.

This advanced work also includes the relocation of the watermains and utilities on Keele St., from Finch Ave West to north of Murray Ross Parkway and the relocation of utilities on Murray Ross Parkway through Keele St. The utility relocation has been co-ordinated alongside the TYSSE construction to ease the impact to the community. This work is expected to be complete March 2011. (Expected completion date is subject to change due to weather and/or unforeseen events.)

Work Hours

Work will normally run between 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. No work will be done on Statutory Holidays. During the work, there may be construction related noise.

Lane Restrictions

Motorists may face temporary traffic delays due to varying lane restrictions on the following streets:
Keele Street: Both directions between Toro Road and 200 metres north of Murray Ross Parkway for watermain and utilities work.

Murray Ross Parkway: Both directions through Keele Street to Columbia Gate.

Toro Road: Both directions between Keele Street and Tangiers Road.

Columbia Gate: Both directions between Murray Ross Parkway and Four Winds Drive.

Tangiers Road: Both directions between Toro Road to Four Winds Drive.

Pedestrian and Construction Vehicle Access

There may be temporary sidewalk closures to ensure public safety along Murray Ross Parkway, Keele St., Finch Avenue West and Tangiers Road. The sidewalk on at least one side of the street will remain open at all times to maintain pedestrian access during construction.

Construction vehicles will access the construction site at Keele St. and Murray Ross Parkway and at Finch Avenue West and Tangiers Road.

TTC Bus Route Services

Transit delays may be experienced on 36 Finch West, 41 Keele and 107 Keele North bus services. Your patience during this time is greatly appreciated.
