PRESTO cards can be used to pay one of the double fares required on this bus. The additional fare must be paid by token, ticket or cash.

All TTC buses (except Community and Wheel-Trans buses) have bike racks so that you can bring your bike with you on your journey. Depending on the bus type, bike racks can hold one or two bikes. The racks are easy to load and unload, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

All accessories must be removed from the bike prior to loading as they may impede operators' sight lines. Please remove water bottles, air pumps, panniers, child carriers, solid baskets, bags and other loose items before boarding. The Operator has the right to refuse use of the bike rack to keep clear sightlines.

The 142 Downtown / Avenue Rd Express bus route operates between the area of Avenue Road and Highway 401 and the Downtown Toronto area, generally in a north-south direction. Accessible service is provided on the route. It serves the Museum, Queen’s Park, St. Patrick and Osgoode Stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina Subway. It also passes within one block of the St. Andrew, King and Queen Stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina Subway. Queen’s Park Station, Osgoode Station and Queen Station are all accessible subway stations. Bike racks are available on this route.

One single service is operated: the 142 (Downtown-Highway 401) branch operates during the peak periods, from Monday to Friday only.

Southbound 142 DOWNTOWN EXPRESS / EXTRA FARE

These buses operate from Bombay Loop (on the east side of Avenue Road, south of Bombay Avenue) via south on Avenue Road, southeast on Oxton Avenue, south on Oriole Parkway, west on Lonsdale Road, south on Avenue Road, south on Queen’s Park, south on Queen’s Park Crescent West, south on University Avenue, west on Richmond Street, south on Simcoe Street, east on Adelaide Street, and north on Church Street to Richmond Street. Southbound 142 buses operate LOCAL from Bombay Loop to Eglinton Avenue West; 142 buses then operate EXPRESS from Eglinton Avenue West to Adelaide Street and University Avenue, stopping only at Lonsdale Road, St. Clair Avenue West, Edmund Avenue, Davenport Road, Bloor Street West, Museum Subway Station, Hart House, College Street, Gerrard Street West, Dundas Street West, and Queen Street West; 142 buses then operate LOCAL through downtown, from Adelaide Street and University Avenue to Church Street and Richmond Street.

Northbound 142 AVENUE RD EXPRESS TO HIGHWAY 401 / EXTRA FARE

These buses operate from Church Street and Richmond Street via west on Richmond Street, north on University Avenue, north on Queen’s Park Crescent East, north on Queen’s Park, north on Avenue Road, east on Lonsdale Road, north on Oriole Parkway, northwest on Oxton Avenue, and north on Avenue Road to Bombay Loop. Northbound 142 buses operate LOCAL through downtown, from Church Street and Richmond Street to Richmond Street and York Street; 142 buses then operate EXPRESS from Richmond Street and York Street to Eglinton Avenue West, stopping only at Queen Street West, Dundas Street West, Gerrard Street West, College Street, Wellesley Street West, Museum Subway Station, Bloor Street West, Davenport Road, Edmund Avenue, St. Clair Avenue West, Lonsdale Road, and Eglinton Avenue West; 142 buses then operate LOCAL from Eglinton Avenue West to Bombay Loop.

The 142 DOWNTOWN EXPRESS buses serve local bus stops north of Eglinton Avenue West and south of Queen Street only.
