TTC sets record ridership - 470.8 million rides in last 12 months

The Toronto Transit Commission today announced it set an all-time ridership record from May 2008 to May 2009 of 470,883,000 rides.
- More bike racks for TTC bus routes
May 22, 2009 - The TTC will mark the start of Bike Month by adding 18 additional bus routes featuring bike rack equipped buses. This now brings the total number of bike friendly bus routes to 89, which is more than 50 per cent of all bus routes. All routes will feature bike racks by 2012.
- TTC subway musician audition dates
May 21, 2009 - The 31st Annual TTC Subway Musicians Auditions are just around the corner. Up to 175 solo or duo acts that apply by June 26 will be invited to audition at the Canadian National Exhibition, from Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 23.
- No TTC subway service between Sheppard and Finch stations
May 12, 2009 - Due to an ongoing police investigation, the TTC’s Finch subway station is closed. As a result, subway service on the Yonge-University-Spadina line is turning back at Sheppard Station.
- TTCs Scarborough RT to close early for track maintenance
May 11, 2009 - To permit necessary track maintenance, the Scarborough RT will close early each night until November 21. The SRT trains will stop operating at approximately midnight each day.
- Mayor David Miller praises TTCs investment in youth
May 11, 2009 - The Toronto Transit Commission was recognized today for the hiring of youth from 13 priority neighbourhoods through a Youth Employment Program. Since its launch in 2006, the TTC has provided over 300 employment opportunities.
- Historic TTC PCC Streetcar back on track
May 7, 2009 - The TTC is bringing back a bit of Toronto’s history each Sunday from May 10 to September 6.
- TTC Open House for Dufferin Station Modernization Project
May 7, 2009 - Beginning in late 2009, TTC will begin a 2.5 year Modernization Program at Dufferin Station that will upgrade station finishes integrating public art, enhance the street presence of station entrances, improve accessibility, and improve passenger flow and wayfinding within all station levels.
- TTC Wins APTA Bus Safety Award
May 6, 2009 - The Toronto Transit Commission has been named the 2009 GOLD award winner at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Bus Safety Awards in Seattle, Washington.
