COVID-19 Update: Employees test positive

October 31: The first individual is a contractor who works at Leslie Barns. The individual developed symptoms on October 25, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, October 30, 2020. The individual last reported to work on October 25, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second individual is an employee who works at Greenwood Warehouse. The individual developed symptoms on October 30, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, October 31, 2020. The employee last reported to work on October 29, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The third employee is a Serviceperson who works at Station Services. The individual developed symptoms on October 24, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, October 31, 2020. The employee last reported to work on October 24, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

October 30: The first employee is a Workcar Operator who works at Subway Infrastructure. The individual developed symptoms on October 27, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, October 29, 2020. The employee last reported to work on October 27, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second employee is a Building Serviceperson who works at Station Services. The individual is asymptomatic. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, October 29, 2020. The employee last reported to work on October 22, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

October 28: The first employee is a Subway Operator who works at Wilson Division. The individual developed symptoms on October 24, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, October 27, 2020. The employee last reported to work on October 23, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second individual is an employee who works at Subway Electrical. The individual developed symptoms on October 19, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, October 28, 2020. The employee last reported to work on October 18, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

October 27: The first individual is an employee who works at Subway Electrical. The individual developed symptoms on October 22, 2020, after leaving work for the day. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, October 27, 2020. The employee last reported to work on October 22, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second employee is a Bus Operator who works at Eglinton Division. The individual is asymptomatic. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, October 27, 2020. The employee last reported to work on September 18, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The third employee is a Subway Operator who works at Wilson Division. The individual developed symptoms on October 23, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, October 27, 2020. The employee last reported to work on October 20, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home. 

Following TPH guidance on case and contact management, the TTC is assessing whether there were any close contacts with the individual while contagious, requiring self-isolation.

The TTC takes safety very seriously and considers the health and well-being of TTC employees of utmost importance. The TTC will continue to report information about positive diagnoses and publish the information on the TTC COVID-19 case update page on the TTC website at: http://www.ttc.ca/Riding_the_TTC/Safety_and_Security/Case_update.jsp. To date, 60 employees have returned to work since testing positive.

Please note, priority access is now available for TTC employees who are essential frontline workers or are required to support frontline work and are also exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. If you develop new or worsening symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (see link above) or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, stay home and contact Occupational Health at 416-393-4572 or OHEW@ttc.ca to be connected with a Disability Management Specialist (DMS). If you are eligible for testing, your DMS will provide you with a letter from Toronto Public Health recommending priority testing.

Important reminder: Safety notices advise employees with concerns about their personal health to contact their family doctor or Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000. Toronto Public Health has also set up a coronavirus hotline that provides the public with a place to get information, ask questions about this virus and connect with a health professional at 416-338-7600.
