COVID-19 Update: Positive tests

December 5: The first employee who works in the Legal Department. The individual is asymptomatic. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on December 4, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 30, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home. 

The second employee is a Janitor who works in the Stations Department. The individual developed symptoms on November 23, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on December 2, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 28, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The third individual is a COVID-19 Ambassador who works in the Stations Department. The individual developed symptoms on November 30, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 today, December 5, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 27, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

December 4: The first employee is a Structure Repairperson who works in the Subway Infrastructure Department. The individual developed symptoms on December 2, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, December 3, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 25, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second employee is a Wheel-Trans Operator who works at Lakeshore Division. The individual developed symptoms on November 29, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on December 4, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 27, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The third individual is a Contractor who works in the Customer Service Department. The individual developed symptoms on November 29, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on December 4, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 27, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The fourth individual is a Contractor who works in the Closures and Diversions Department. The individual developed symptoms on November 29, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on December 3, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 29, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

December 3: The first employee is a Bus Operator who works at Birchmount Division. The individual developed symptoms on November 30, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19on December 3, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 30, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second employee is a Coach Technician who works at Arrow Road Garage. The individual developed symptoms on November 29, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on December 3, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 27, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

December 2: The employee is a Coach Technician who works at Duncan Shop. The individual is asymptomatic. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on December 2, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 26, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

December 1: The first employee is a Bus Operator who works at Mount Dennis Division. The individual developed symptoms on November 25, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on November 30, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 25, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

The second employee is a Wheel-Trans Operator who works at Wheel-Trans Division. The individual developed symptoms on November 29, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on November 30, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 19, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

November 29: The employee is a Bus Operator who works at Wilson Division. The individual developed symptoms on November 25, 2020. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 on November 28, 2020. The individual last reported to work on November 25, 2020, and is currently self-isolating at home.

Following TPH guidance on case and contact management, the TTC is assessing whether there were any close contacts with the individual while contagious, requiring self-isolation.

The TTC takes safety very seriously and considers the health and well-being of TTC employees of utmost importance. The TTC will continue to report information about positive diagnoses and publish the information on the TTC COVID-19 case update page on the TTC website at: http://www.ttc.ca/Riding_the_TTC/Safety_and_Security/Case_update.jsp. To date, 60 employees have returned to work since testing positive.

Please note, priority access is now available for TTC employees who are essential frontline workers or are required to support frontline work and are also exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. If you develop new or worsening symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (see link above) or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, stay home and contact Occupational Health at 416-393-4572 or OHEW@ttc.ca to be connected with a Disability Management Specialist (DMS). If you are eligible for testing, your DMS will provide you with a letter from Toronto Public Health recommending priority testing.

Important reminder: Safety notices advise employees with concerns about their personal health to contact their family doctor or Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000. Toronto Public Health has also set up a coronavirus hotline that provides the public with a place to get information, ask questions about this virus and connect with a health professional at 416-338-7600.
