Notice to Staff

I know the past few months have been hard on people as we try to navigate this new and ever-changing environment. I want you to know that the well-being and health of our employees is at the core of our decision making at the TTC.

With this in mind, the Executive Team has held numerous discussions with Human Resources around how to best support employees. One option we will be introducing today is the Temporary Lay-Off Substitution initiative.

This plan allows for employees, both union and non-union, to volunteer to be laid-off and, like any other employee who has been laid off, you will continue to receive health benefits during the layoff period. As well, since this lay off is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for the Federal Government’s Canada Emergency Response Benefit.

I know you will have many questions about this plan so we have developed a Program Guide to try and answer them, and to provide instructions on how to express your interest through an application process. The Program Guide for Employees will be available on the MyTTC  (SuccessFactors) homepage on May 27.

This will be the first of a number of communications to all employees as we turn our attention toward recovery at the TTC. As the Province and the City continue to move forward with their staged approach to reopening the economy, our staff are busy working on the TTC’s Recovery Plan. We hope to be well on the way to a full recovery later this year.

In the meantime, I hope you are continuing to stay safe and well.
