This week’s TTC Board Meeting
Tuesday (February 25) was a very successful day for the staff at the TTC. We had a six-hour Board meeting at City Hall that touched on almost every aspect of our organization.
Operations, Vehicles, Finance, Major Projects were all challenged to step up to the plate and perform as a fine-oiled machine; answering tough questions from the Board and the public.
Board reports on Fare Evasion, the Anti-Racism Strategy and our Green Bus Program led the agenda and allowed for a healthy debate. Safety, Legal, People, Customer, Corporate Affairs were all there to support the organization and provide thoughtful responses on a range of issues.
As you all know the 2020 Budget included the most significant investment of upgrades to our transit system in the city’s history, nearly doubling our 10-year Capital Budget & Plan to $11.9 billion. Our 2020 Operating Budget not only preserves the great gains we’ve made, but enhances our services at a time of increased growth and demand. For example, we will add 128,000 hours of new service, 121 new Operators and 50 additional Special Constables.
These huge gains mean we are growing as an organization, and with that, our people will continue to be front and centre. I am grateful to all TTC staff for their hard work and our ability to be seen as a city building service as well as connectors of multicultural communities. If you are interested, you can watch TTC Board meetings on the Official TTC YouTube Channel.
Let’s get things rolling.
