Respect, equity and fairness at the TTC
A culture of respect, equity and fairness is absolutely essential at the TTC.
So that’s why I’d like to use this week’s message to share the remarks that I delivered at the CUTA Conference on November 18. The spotlight at last month’s virtual session of Canadian transit properties was on diversity and how our industry should reflect the communities we serve.
It was prime opportunity for us to convey to our peers the important work we’ve been undertaking in the realm of diversity and inclusion. The speech wasn’t just about why diversity matters, but what we’re doing to make us a better organization for our customers and employees. The TTC’s Plan for Diversity will be an action item to be voted on at the December 15 Board meeting.
The conference also came on the heels of our first information session promoting the role of TTC Operator to women. The virtual event on November 24 was a sellout so we’re holding an encore session on December 10. We’re anticipating another large audience so please tell everyone about it!
