Subject: Staff Response to Commission Inquiry - Toronto Transit Commission Key Performance Measures Review

As requested at the March 24, 2004 Commission meeting, attached is the report titled "Toronto Transit Commission Key Performance Measures Review". This report was previously submitted to the Commission on February 26, 2003.

The report was prepared for the City of Toronto as part of the budget review process in 2003. The City Finance Department undertook to benchmark all City agencies against outside agencies and/or cities to measure the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of their operation. This report was the result of the investigation related to the TTC and its operation.

As Chief General Manager of the TTC, I will re-state that I am very pleased with the findings because they once again illustrate the quality of work done by TTC staff.
